“The Sweet Performance of Bubblegum Plant" is a surreal story about a flower that severs its roots in an attempt to deny its true nature, only to discover that reality has a way of bringing it back to where it truly belongs.

“The Sweet Performance of Bubblegum Plant" is a surreal story about a flower that severs its roots in an attempt to deny its true nature, only to discover that reality has a way of bringing it back to where it truly belongs.
The story begins with a close-up shot of a pink flower. One by one, the petals begin to bloom, not with the usual elegance of nature, but with an elastic stretch, inflating like chewing gum bubbles.
As the camera pulls back, we reveal the entire plant sitting in a simple brown terracotta pot. The final petals expand, and the stem begins to bend under the growing pressure, as if the flower is preparing to lift itself away.

The entire plant starts leaning upward, but something keeps it grounded. The terracotta pot resists not only through its weight but also through another unexpected obstacle: a sticky piece of chewing gum holding it back.
The tension builds as the gum stretches further and further, until it finally snaps. With nothing holding it back, the plant launches upward, leaving behind the weight of the pot.

The flower reaches the skylight with a splat, sticking to the glass like a face pressed against a window.
The impact sends the inflated petals falling back down, popping as they land on the pedestal among the broken pot and scattered soil. After its brief attempt at escape, the flower completes its performance by returning to where it truly belongs.
